The Robbers
The Robbers party band performs as a 4 piece Manchester band playing best covers music from 60’s to present day. Being based in the North West of England, this band can travel anywhere across the UK. They are happy to accommodate any requests regarding length and number of sets and which songs to play. A song can be specifically learnt for your event if you’d like them to.
Recorded background music is possible through their PA between sets, if required, saving you an expense of a DJ. This party band represents great value for money. All members have worked hard to create a big sound, with 3 part vocal harmonies and great use of instruments. It makes you feel as though there are more musicians on stage. Completely self-contained band with a PA system suitable for up to about 300 people (depending on the size of venue) and stage lighting. If an event will host more than 300 people then they can also hire in a larger PA.
Band members often dress in black and white stripy T-shirts to make them really stand-out from any crowd. They can also dress ‘up’ in suits or ‘down’ more casually if that is a better look for your event. Full insurance is in place including public liability insurance up to value of £10 million (which can be inspected upon request). All band equipment is regularly PAT tested. Extensive song list available (by decades).
The Robbers – Lead Vocals, Keyboard & Guitar: Matt is a self-taught musician who plays guitar, bass and drums as well as being able to tinker on piano / keyboard. He has his own recording studio at home where he play covers and has spent much of his life writing and recording original music. Two records were made with band Turn to Flowers, on same record label as Mock Turtles and Inspiral Carpets. This bill was shared with those bands as well as Stone Roses, Northside and Soup Dragons at various venues.
With band, Fat Black Cat, Matt toured UK three times (with Australian Doors) and a TV programme was made about them by Granada Television. Matt still gets a huge buzz out of playing live and continues to write his own material with band StateDancer. If you wish to engage him in conversation then he’ll happily talk about anything to do with music or second world war planes!
The Robbers – Lead Vocals & Guitar: Emelia is the newest member of this band. She is a hugely welcome addition adding amazing vocals and an extra guitar to any bmix. As she started singing at age 8 she now has a diverse repertoire and style from musical theatre and standards to full on rock and pop. Naming her musical guilty pleasures as Westlife and McFly (well she is youngest member of this band!) she says that her biggest influence is Freddie Mercury. Freddie is considered to have been the world’s greatest showman and vocalist.
The Robbers – Bass & Vocals: Tom plays a number of instruments including guitar which he also teaches. He also teaches music theory – proving that he must have patience of a saint. He gained his knowledge having completed a music degree at Salford University and has been a musician all his life. His musical influences include Ryan Adams, The Beatles, Steely Dan and Death Cab For Cutie. As well as playing covers he also writes his own music which he regularly performs under his own name.
The Robbers – Drums & Vocals: Stuart is another multi-instrumentalist. Although he sits at the back behind the drums he can also play the guitar and bass – with a music degree to prove it! You’ll do a double take for sure when you discover him playing in a number of bands including the Big Shot Swing Orchestra, Soul Bandits and Brass Routes.
In the past he has played with the Casino All Stars and The Groove Merchants -a pun-tastic collection of bands – agreed? He now passes on his drumming expertise by teaching. With his eclectic musical taste he says that he likes most genres from metal to jazz and everything in-between. The biggest influence on his drumming has probably been Vinnie Colleuta, the drummer for Frank Zappa.
“The Robbers band were fab – set up really quickly and gave us a fab evening. The set and sound were perfect with a good mix of music for all our guests to enjoy. Very pleasant group. Well worth the money. Could not fault the whole experience, thank you.”
“Excellent entertainment at our fundraising event. They were punctual, professional, polite and very very accommodating. All excellent musicians and played a great mix of tunes that everybody knew on the evening. Certainly value for money and I would have no hesitation what so ever re booking them for our next event. 10 out of 10.”
“I just wanted to say that the evening went better than we thought. The Robbers band were fantastic. Please pass our thanks on to the guys, for making our 50th bash such a success.”
We understand that the band may no longer be performing as a wedding band.
