Ultimate 40 UB40 tribute band UK group of multi talented musicians performing all the greatest hits of UB40 from One In Ten to Red Red Wine, playing all the classic favourites that guarantee the crowd goes home happy. Hailing from the same city, they play their own unique style. Formed just a few years ago they have gone from strength to strength and keep the audience on their feet all night long, asking for more.
Most of the band have played with and alongside some of the biggest names in the Reggae music industry, including the one and only Ali Campbell. The majority of shows are sellouts. The band have played at a few high profile events in the years they have been together. The British & Belgium Grand Prix, The Geoff Horsefield Foundation, Arrive Alive, fundraising events, plus many social clubs, festivals and weddings. Consider Ultimate 40 for your next event as they have worked on a project with Musical Youth & Tippa Irie, celebrating Reggae heritage and Black History month.
The band also have their own transport, PA system (6k) rig and lights.Therefore they are fully self contained for venues that don’t have an in house PA. This UB40 tribute band can travel nationwide, across Europe and further afield if required. There is also have a Reggae set and they love to interact with the audience. The lead singer writes his own music, some of which can be found on Youtube under the name Xova.
With many shows under their belts resulting in re-bookings, this band is beginning to become the band that people are talking about. You will find rave reviews. The real UB40 band’s line-up was stable for nearly 29 years, from March 1979 until January 2008, when frontman Ali Campbell left the band, followed shortly thereafter by keyboardist Mickey Virtue. Another member, Astro, remained with the band until November 2013, when he departed the original band to team up with Campbell and Virtue in a new version of UB40.
On 5 July 2021, it was announced that Matt Doyle (formerly of the reggae band Kioko) would become the band’s new vocalist, following Duncan Campbell’s retirement due to ill health. Travers died from cancer on 22 August 2021 and Astro died on 6 November 2021 following a short illness. Wikipedia
